The Arc of Palm Beach County has named Kurt Gehring as its new board chair. Gehring, the founder, president, and CEO of the Gehring Group, will lead the Board of Trustees for the next two years.

pdf Wild Pants Raises Nearly $90,000

The Arc transformed its annual fundraiser adding a 2020 twist. Supporters stepped out in their sassiest slacks for the WILD Pants fundraiser bringing in $89,000. Traditionally, The Arc recruited men from the community to model colorful pants in an effort to raise money to support programs for people with disabilities. This year, participants of all ages and genders were asked to make, decorate, or buy tricked-out trousers to battle for the championship title.

pdf The Arc Receives Grant for Community Inclusion Program

The Arc of Palm Beach County aims to build acceptance. That includes ensuring that every child, regardless of their abilities, has access to out-of-school time (OST) programs in Palm Beach County. Thanks to a continued grant from Prime Time Palm Beach County, youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities will have improved access to quality afterschool and summer programs.

The Arc of Palm Beach County is being nationally recognized for its Stand Up program. Out of a pool of 600 local chapters, Palm Beach County received the Program Innovation Award at The Arc’s 2019 National Convention in Washington, D.C. On Saturday, December 14, students that are involved in the mentor program got their first look at the trophy.

Riviera Beach, Fla. – The Arc of Palm Beach County has developed a model to increase acceptance for people with disabilities. Stand Up is a leadership training experience that matches high-performing teens with same-age peers at The Arc. Due to the mentor program’s success, The Arc has been nominated for the Program Innovation Award and is leading the charge to get Stand Up implemented on a national level.
