The Arc Names New Board Chair for 2021
The Arc of Palm Beach County has named Kurt Gehring as its new board chair. Gehring, the founder, president, and CEO of the Gehring Group, will lead the Board of Trustees for the next two years.
Wild Pants Raises Nearly $90,000
The Arc transformed its annual fundraiser adding a 2020 twist. Supporters stepped out in their sassiest slacks for the WILD Pants fundraiser bringing in $89,000. Traditionally, The Arc recruited men from the community to model colorful pants in an effort to raise money to support programs for people with disabilities. This year, participants of all ages and genders were asked to make, decorate, or buy tricked-out trousers to battle for the championship title.
The Arc is entering 2021 with optimism and bold plans for the future. The year 2020 was difficult for The Arc, our team members, the amazing children, families, and clients that we are privileged to serve, and our community. Yet Team Arc led with innovation and determination, creating opportunities for our agency not only to continue to provide stellar services, but also to position ourselves for future growth and success.
The Arc Receives Grant for Community Inclusion Program
The Arc of Palm Beach County aims to build acceptance. That includes ensuring that every child, regardless of their abilities, has access to out-of-school time (OST) programs in Palm Beach County. Thanks to a continued grant from Prime Time Palm Beach County, youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities will have improved access to quality afterschool and summer programs.
Exhibitions of color, theatrics, emotion, and generosity marked The Arc of Palm Beach County’s Off the Wall Gala. Vibrantly dressed guests attended the sold-out party on Saturday, March 7 at the Norton Museum of Art.
The Arc of Palm Beach County is being nationally recognized for its Stand Up program. Out of a pool of 600 local chapters, Palm Beach County received the Program Innovation Award at The Arc’s 2019 National Convention in Washington, D.C. On Saturday, December 14, students that are involved in the mentor program got their first look at the trophy.
The-Arc-Opens-The-Holiday-Gift-Wrap-Suite
Wrap your holidays with fun and philanthropy! On Tuesday, November 26, The Arc of Palm Beach County will cut the ribbon to open The Holiday Gift Wrap Suite at The Gardens Mall. Take a break from the frenzy of holiday shopping and have your purchases complimentary wrapped while helping programs at The Arc.
New Program at The Arc Aiming for National Recognition
Riviera Beach, Fla. – The Arc of Palm Beach County has developed a model to increase acceptance for people with disabilities. Stand Up is a leadership training experience that matches high-performing teens with same-age peers at The Arc. Due to the mentor program’s success, The Arc has been nominated for the Program Innovation Award and is leading the charge to get Stand Up implemented on a national level.
New Awards Honor The Arc’s Service
The Arc of Palm Beach County continues to raise the bar in programs and proficiencies, and partners are taking notice. The nonprofit is the proud recipient of the Community Champion Award from the United Way of Palm Beach County and the Financial Organization of the Year Award from AmeriCorps.
