Difficult times often lead to positive changes. Anyone who has navigated the road to self-acceptance knows it’s a challenging, but worthwhile path to travel. That’s why The Arc of Palm Beach County is launching a public service campaign focused on acceptance.
This campaign will inspire everyone to express empathy and support inclusivity, especially in a world that has been partitioned by different opinions. The Arc of Palm Beach County is encouraging people everywhere to hold on to their authenticity, regardless of approval, and extend acceptance to their neighbors.
“It’s undeniable that we can be divided in many ways and there’s a need to build empathy between people from different backgrounds and perspectives,” said Kimberly McCarten, president and CEO of The Arc of Palm Beach County. “For 60 years, The Arc has worked for inclusion, equality, and creating possibilities for people with disabilities. In the current climate of blame and division, we need to change the conversation. Acceptance needs to be our goal in the Palm Beaches and in the global community,” McCarten explained. “The time to change the message in this country is now, and we believe a public service campaign of acceptance is a good place to begin.”
One component of this campaign is a line of jewelry by Hamilton Jewelers featuring the word “acceptance.” The Acceptance Collection, a collaboration between The Arc and Hamilton Jewelers, will serve as a sign of self-love, and as a reminder to embrace others with the same attitude.
The Arc will preview the jewelry launch, as well as T-shirts and other holiday gifts with a purpose, at Capital Strategies Women’s Forum Holiday Soiree on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at The Lake Pavilion in West Palm Beach. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Artisans from The Arc will have a pop-up shop featuring their artwork at the event. The Arc’s Artisan Program allows clients to use their creativity, earn a commission, and gain independence and acceptance.
