The Arc of Palm Beach County is asking the community to be on the lookout for two special bikes that were stolen Sunday from its locked and secured headquarters at 1201 Australian Avenue in Riviera Beach.

Both bikes are specially designed to accommodate the needs of The Arc’s clientele, who have developmental disabilities, and are collectively valued at more than $2,400. The theft is being investigated by the Riviera Beach Police Department, which is also seeking support from the community.
One bike, a Rifton Adaptive Tricycle, has a very unique design to allow a person with physical developmental disabilities or other limitations to gain mobility. The other bike is a large, red, three-wheeled tricycle, designed for an older child or adult passenger.

Both vehicles were stored on The Arc’s property, behind locked gates, and accessed from an adjacent lot. The theft was captured on The Arc’s video surveillance cameras at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 17. If anyone has seen the very unique bikes or if they have any knowledge of the theft, they are asked to contact the Riviera Beach Police Department at 561-845-4123 and reference case number 16-05963.

Photos of the bikes and the video surveillance can be viewed on The Arc of Palm Beach County’s Facebook page at

The Arc is also asking the community to support its efforts to raise funds to purchase a secured shed for its client equipment. Donations of any amount can be made by calling Kristen Daniel at 561-842-3213.
